Why Direct Linking Is Dead (And What To Do Instead)

One of the biggest market shifts that have happened in the last 12 months is the death of "direct linking" - or in other words, sending traffic directly to an offer.

I've recorded a short tutorial to explain why and what you should do instead...

  1. Hi James,

Great video I see a lot of that people sending a link directly to the offer and not onto their landing page to build an email list (where the money is made) Plus I like your term douche baggy haha!

  2. In my eagerness to generate interest/money I have been guilty of attempting the shortcut direct linking. At the back of my mind though, I know it isn't the best result for time put in. The best result we had from a promotional effort, was a video animation we did for a channel we were following a few years ago. We did it to show appreciation for their channel, in turn our youtube channel saw very fast growth over a short time - but it was from an audience we didn't own or monetize, so a little bit muddled.

  3. Once again great stuff James and thanks for the warning/reminder.

I learnt this lesson a few years ago after I made affiliate sales but had no way to contact my buyers to build a trust relationship with them.

At the end of the day all the relationship stuff fell to my affiliate product owner.....he was building a list!

I also was also unable to sell something extra to my buyers. I mean how could I send them anything when I had no squeeze page or autoresponder and so on.

It really makes sense to set up a squeeze page, send out relationship building emails THEN send them to an affiliate product that will help them if you are unable to create it yourself.

I hope no one makes my mistake trying to catch the fast buck sending traffic to a direct link ;-).
