When starting out in the information marketing world, it’s easy to think that more is better.
After all, the more websites you have online, the higher the chance of someone seeing them (and buying from you), right?
One of the biggest mistakes I see on a daily basis within the Internet Marketing industry is the complete misunderstanding of quality over quantity.
In fact, I’d even go as far as saying this is the biggest reason why people fail online.
The truth is, you only ONE website to succeed online. I recommend this being www.YourFirstNameYourLastName.com (e.g. digitalprosperity.com, JoeBloggs.com, FredBloggs.com, etc).
On that website, you need just THREE things:
- A WordPress blog on your homepage
- A squeeze page offering a free gift
- A download / “thank you” page to deliver the free gift
Sure – I’d recommend adding a “one-time offer” between your squeeze page and download page, but that could always be a direct affiliate link to someone else’s offer on another website.
… And that’s all you need.
You DON’T need a vast array of multiple websites in multiple different niches. You just need one website in one niche.
You DON’T need a thousand or more blogs – all with the sheer HOPE you’ll make at least $1 per day from each of them – which RARELY ever happens. You just need one high-quality blog.
You DON’T need any more than one of each marketing medium (Twitter account, Facebook account, etc). You just need one in each.
You DON’T need a huge variety of many different products. You just need one high converting, high quality product.
You DON’T need a ton of free visitors to your websites or affiliate links. You just need a smaller amount of high-quality, highly-targeted traffic.
You DON’T need a HUGE list of subscribers. You just need a highly-trusting, loyal, responsive base of customers.
In other words, you just need to focus on the QUALITY of everything.
I know this completely goes against what other people tell you on a daily basis, but you should realise by now that most people will say anything to shovel their crap onto your hard drive.
They position the idea that the “more websites you have, the more money you’ll make”.
A prime example of this deadly infection is a comment one of my subscribers left in a previous blog post…
“Do you know if there is a software that creates unlimited amounts of Facebook fanpages?”
Whereas this is the completely WRONG way to get results.
In this example, if you focus on making just ONE Facebook fan page successful, you’ll reach your goals before you know it.
You only have a set amount of hours in the day, and a set amount of energy you can spread over your tasks.
If you need to spread all that time and energy over multiple projects, the amount of progress you make for each of them is going to be virtually non-existent.
(There’s a reason why the saying “Jack of all trades, master of none” is popular!)
Whereas if you focus everything you have into just ONE high-quality project, you’ll put your progress into overdrive.
So if you’re currently in this deadly trap, wasting months creating several different websites in several different niches, or a ton of similar YouTube videos, or a ton of Facebook pages… STOP.
Instead, focus on just one niche, one project, and one website.
I can guarantee you’ll see the difference within 48 hours.
