How I Record My Videos (Behind The Scenes!)

After recording a brand new video series, I thought it'd be a great idea to show you a "behind the scenes" explanation of how I record our face-to-camera videos.

You'll see the equipment we use, how to record audio with good quality (even in a room with an echo), how to position the lighting, and everything in-between.

So here it is...

Equipment list:

  • Microphone - Sennheiser MKE600
  • Cable from microphone to camera - standard XLR cable, attached on one end to a Sennheiser KA 600 Short Coiled 3.5mm and XLR cable
  • Camera - Canon 70D
  • Lights - A package similar to this one (same items, just a different company in the UK version of Amazon). I usually have the material over the lights to create a softer light, but I needed the full brightness of the bulbs at the time of recording this video due to the darker room.
  • Microphone stand - Tiger MCA7-BK Boom Microphone Stand (but anything similar will be fine)

Just leave a comment below if you have any questions 🙂

  1. You've come a long way from the first video. Thank you for the information on video production and the equipment list. I'm just getting started with your 'Done for You' service so I believe I have some time. Focusing on other stuff first. Once again thank you. Oh and you are still a bit skinny. 😉

  2. Very cool that you encourage us to just get out there and STARTED! Yes, huge advances from your 1st to current videos which shows how far one can move forward with diligence. Thanks, James
