Do you sometimes find yourself sitting down to start work, then either staring blankly at the screen or finding other things to distract yourself with, instead of what you should be doing?
Lack of motivation happens to everyone, and is the biggest reason for not making fast progress in your online business (and life in general), because it stops you getting stuff done!
So one thing is for certain – if you want to get easier, faster and much better results, the source of this problem needs to be fixed.
So what should you do to get your motivation back?
1) Work Out Your Body
Exercise isn’t one of my most favorite of things to do, but there’s no denying that it always releases a ton of chemicals in the body which kickstart your mind into action.
Go for a short run, hit the gym, or do anything to get yourself active. You’ll feel a lot brighter and more focused because of it.
2) Work Out Your Mind
Your brain processes approximately 70,000 thoughts every day, so it’s no surprise that it needs a rest every once in a while.
Firstly, make sure you’re caught up on sleep. There’s nothing more demotivating and distracting than “running on empty”. I always make sure to have one day per week where I don’t set the alarm, so I can sleep through until I wake up naturally – and I always feel a whole lot better for it.
Secondly, if you find it difficult to get started on a task because of the many other thoughts whizzing around in your head, try this simple “de-cluttering” exercise…
Grab a pen and some paper and write down everything you’re currently thinking (or worrying) about.
Then get comfortable, close your eyes, and relax (and I mean TRULY relax) in silence. Now think through that list of issues, one by one. Are they really that important? What are the possible solutions? Spend as long as it takes.
By the end of it, you’ll have a good solution for at least half of them, meaning your mind can focus its energy on the more important things you need to make progress on.
3) Take A Break
When working hard on a consistent level, our “inner battery” just needs a bit of a break every so often.
So remove any feelings of guilt that you could be working, and just relax!
(And I mean 100% relaxing – not checking your phone or stats every 10 minutes. Just completely let go.)
Then when you find yourself itching to get back to work, that’s when your motivation has returned and when you can make some massive progress.
Remember, motivation is only temporary, so you’ll need to do at least one of the above exercises sooner or later.
Just be sure to spend more time sprinting than walking apathetically, as that’s how you make massive progress – and get great results – fast.
