Have You Created Your First Product Yet?

Although many people think that creating your own product is difficult, time-consuming, or requires some kind of expertise (which really isn’t the case), there are many reasons to create your own product.

My 2 favorite benefits of having my own products are:

  1. The ability to make more money, and
  2. The ability to share my own methods and/or perspectives with my audience.

Think about it…

As an affiliate, you only receive a percentage of everything you promote. Whereas the product owner not only receives the other percentage from your promotional efforts, but also the money from every other affiliate’s efforts, too – all for taking the small amount of time it takes to create a product of their own.

And even if you feel you have “nothing to share” with others, that really isn’t the case.

How much knowledge have you gained since your journey in the Internet/Information Marketing world first began? I can guarantee it’s a lot – even though you may not think it is.

The truth is, whatever knowledge you have will always be more than some other people.

There are always people out there who will want what you have to offer, and there will always be people out there who need help with the most basic of tasks, which you learnt and conquered many months ago.

So when creating your first product, just create a product based on what you know.

If you need inspiration, check out the forums in your niche and see what people are asking questions about the most. Then just go out there and solve that problem with your product.

It doesn’t need to be fancy, it doesn’t need to be “new”, or it doesn’t need to be “perfect” (because it never will be).

Instead, just teach what you know from your own perspective – as it’s that perspective which creates a great quality product.

After all, even if someone has seen or heard about the methods you teach before…

(which is very likely, as why would you change something that already works?)

… They may not have understood it correctly before – and it may be your perspective and method of teaching it which helps them to finally get their long-awaited “aha!” moment.

This applies regardless of the niche. Whether it’s dog training, Internet marketing, building chicken coops, or whatever – there will always be someone who has a problem (or several) which you can solve with your knowledge.

So here’s what I want you to do…

Step #1 – Research the most popular forums in your niche and find the most commonly asked questions. Estimated time: 20-30 minutes.

Step #2 - Plan out a product based around those questions. Estimated time: 15-20 minutes.

Step #3 – Create the product! It could be a basic e-book, an audio interview series with other experts, a video course or a piece of software. Maximum estimated time:
2-14 days (depending on the type of product).

Now get going and take action! 🙂

Talk soon,
- James Francis
